Simple NFL Betting Systems #49 - the Super-Bowl Effect
After studying and cataloging hundreds of different NFL situational trends over the past decade or-so, I have learned that there are really only 3 distinct types of situations that effectively beat the spread. They each have the ability to expose opportunities for profit versus the line--they just do so in very different ways.
The first and most common category (which accounts for the majority of situations that I employ) covers situations that are based on mathematical measurements of specific areas of team play, which work towards revealing instances where one side may have an advantage over another after the point spread is factored in. Examples of this would include trends based primarily on Rush Offense Ratings, Team Momentum Indicators, or any other statistical measurement of team skill.
The 2nd group involves situations that isolate instances where the betting public is way off with their assessment of team strength and an opportunity for profit based on the resulting 'skewed' line may be present. Many of these situations work their magic in the early part of the season, when bettors are still placing wagers based on what teams did last season, as opposed to what they are exhibiting in the first few weeks of the current season.
The 3rd and final category of situations that I employ can be classed as 'let-down' or 'momentum' situations and this is where my degree in 'Armchair Psychology', as I like to call it, comes in handy.
'Momentum' is both a catch-all phrase and sports cliché that has been so overused in the past few decades, it's hard to give it much credence, especially considering that 99% of the time the term is trotted out (most commonly as part of the mindless on-air commentary of network-TV NFL broadcasts), the team that has been pegged as having the 'so-called' edge in momentum, is in fact, no more likely to cover the spread than their opponent.
The overuse and 'dumbing down' of terms such as 'momentum' and it's polar opposite: the 'let-down' situation, does obscure the fact that there are still many proven situations that exist in the NFL where teams may be in a position to build on a recent positive event, or, perhaps not give forth their best effort due to certain factors working against them.
This category of situations should come with a prominent warning label though--trends based on 'Armchair Psychology' are actually the hardest to prove through subjective analysis and bettors who handicap games purely on the basis of these types of situations can find themselves on a slippery slope indeed.
The important lesson here is that even the most logical-sounding situations that may have had success in the past (one that comes to mind concerns teams facing an inferior non-divisional opponent at home in a game that is sandwiched in between 2 divisional road meetings), may still simply be the product of chance alone, or a combination of luck and many other factors that have nothing to do with the logic of the specific situation itself.
Despite the potential pitfalls involved with 'Category 3' trends, I do still utilize a wide assortment of them on a weekly basis. With this category, I always strive to use only 2-4 Primary conditions and not too many 'tighteners' (Secondary conditions). The KISS approach seems to provide the best chance of future success when working with these highly subjective trends.
It should come as no surprise then, that the particular situation I would like to look at for this article is very simple in nature (this is a 'Simple Systems' article, after all). Its premise is built on how teams perform in an upcoming game, when they happen to be facing the defending Super-Bowl winner in the game immediately after.
It's not uncommon for teams to look beyond their current opponent in certain circumstances, especially if they are a team with a winning record that may be looking to make a statement versus last years champion.
When we take the above Primary condition and add in the stipulation that the current opponent is coming off a Clutch Win (a Clutch win occurs when a team tallies the final score of the game, in either the 4th quarter or overtime, moving them from a tied or losing position, into a winning one), we are left with a system that has produced a record of 2-17 ATS for the team in question since 1994.
All the details for this system are listed below. You will notice that it does play on winning teams more often than not (57.1% of the time) and has involved 16 different teams since 1994--which is excellent when you consider that only just over 20 games have met its criteria (this includes 'pushes' which are not shown in the overall record of 2-17 ATS).
(Notes: ASMR stands for Average Spread Margin Rating. A positive rating indicates a trend that is stronger than average versus the line, negative--weaker than average. TDIS% is the percentage of teams in the league that have been involved in this situation at one time or another. WT% is the percentage of teams that are .500 or better and SPR is the average spread for teams in this situation. For more details, please consult Page 13 of my 2007 NFL Game Sheets Guide.)

Roulette Systems – The Best Way To Win At Roulette Enclosed
If you want to stop losing at roulette, forget roulette systems that guarantee you’ll win. None of them work!
To stop losing all you really need to know is how to bet with the best odds then Success will follow.
The bets below can show you how to get the casino advantage down to just 1.24%, impressive considering roulette is a game of chance. But first lets look at why roulette systems don’t work.
Roulette systems.
It is really naïve to think you can spend some hundreds of dollars on a system of roulette and start winning thousands back.
Why don’t they work?
Because roulette systems based strictly on mathematical formulas with the assumption that past data can be used to accurately predict future events. Not true.
In games of chance you can never know what will happen next, so how can mathematical systems be used? They cannot. Save your money.
For example, if red comes up 10 times in a row or 40 times in a row, the odds for the next spin is always a 50 – 50 chance.
Each spin of the wheel is exclusive of all other spins, so there is no data that can be used to predict future spins.
The guys that write roulette system books know this. At least they should, or maybe they do but know there are plenty of mugs who they can make easy money out of.
Winning at Roulette
You must remember two things when trying to get the casino’s advantage down and even things out and this does not involve using a roulette system.
1. Always play a table with the best odds
Comparing the European Roulette table with the American, you can see the European wheel has 37 slots with a single 0.
The American wheel however, has an extra slot, a double zero, making 38 slots. So the house advantage is 2.7% for European wheel and 5.26% for the American wheel.
Forget American Roulette, play European.
With the casino advantage down to just 2.7%, there are other ways to further reduce them
2. The Best Bet = The Best Odds
Play bets whose odds equal their payouts.
These are called "even money" bets. They are Odd, Even, High, (numbers 19 through 36), Low, (numbers 1 through 18), Black or Red.
All of these bets pay odds of 1: 1. and you'll quickly discover your odds of winning are about 45%.
Closing the Gap
You can find in European roulette a bet which uses the rule called 'en prison.' (in prison in English)
Having bet “en prison” and mad an even money bet, with the ball landing on zero, you don't lose your bet! In this case your bet is 'imprisoned', and the rule lets you carry it forward to the next spin.
In case your bet wins, you can then remove the “en prison” bet from the table. Now the casino’s advantage has been reduced to just 1.35%. This is by far the best bet with the best odds of favoring the player.
You may get bored if you play the same bet all the time, but feel the chips in your hand or pocket, and watch the other players losing using other bets and sure fire roulette systems and you will soon feel great.
The other bets in Roulette so favor the casino we have not even mentioned them. If you wish to win, play it safe with odds in your favor, not the casinos!
Roulette systems tend to lengthen the odds against you and guarantee you lose.
Roulette is really a great game fun game.
Don’t be fooled by roulette systems, and realize the overall odds are always with the casino. Stop losing and beat the casino.
Here we have given you a simple way to beat the casino and hopefully saved you hundreds of dollars on a roulette system.
Roulette is a fascinating game and one you should explore further as for a game of chance it has surprisingly good odds.

How To Win The Football Pools - Perms Systems Software for UK Football Pools - Part 2
Dear Football Pools Fans,
Welcome to part 2 - Not The 'FULL PERM'
Did you know that on some weeks when there are only eight score draws, that
the odds against you getting them all together in one 8 from 10 perm are over
42 ½ MILLION to one? You'd be better off with an 8 from 11 of course: the
odds against one of those gathering 8 score draws now shrinks to a mere 11 ½
million to one.
So if you use the same numbers every week or pick out numbers with a pin to
cover your 8 from 10, then good luck to you - you're going to need it. Remember
too, that if your 8 from 10 contains just ONE home win, then 36 of your 45 lines
cannot achieve more than 22 points (fourth dividend on most
weeks); and even with an 8 from 16 full perm, which costs over £200 on
littlewoods, just one home win will spoil HALF of your 12,870 lines.
What if you do more than one full perm, you may ask. Then what happens? Your
successful forecasts will be spread more or less equally among your different
columns of selections.
So, if this is true, why do so many of the big winners use full perms? Because of
the law of averages! The vast majority of people who bet on the pools use full
perms, so full perms account for the vast majority of lines of 8 X's being
covered, so most of the winners will have used full perms. But if a pools company
advertises how an 8 from 10 or an 8 from 11 has won a £2
million pound jackpot, you should remember that over THIRTY MILLION 8 from 10's
must have LOST to make up that jackpot!
The pools people make a big to-do about full perm winners because that type
of entry is the easiest and quickest for them to check, which enables them to
keep their running costs to a minimum. That's why they don't make quite as
much fuss about any other kind of Treble Chance entry such as the IPG System.
The law of averages is in fact working AGAINST the full perm enthusiast. It
dictates that he must go on losing week after week and year after year,
believing that he has had a "good" week when he has managed to get four or
five score draws even though that means he has still lost.
That's why most of the full perm fans who do the pools end up finding that
the pools are in fact - DOING THEM!
The full perm is easy to enter and extremely easy to lose with!
Part 3 - (Score draw Selection and Strategy Systems) coming soon…..
